The Boat People - Awkward Orchid Orchard

Take a look at this! It actually looks kind of painful, I just hope he didn't do any serious damage.
Talk about dedication!

It's been about a year since high school, and so much has changed. Good change. I am really happy with who I am and where I am, and the people I've met along the way. This year has been one exciting, fun-filled, hectic year, and even though I have constantly complained about it, it's hasn't really been that bad after all.

2008 was the year I got my first licence, busted my first tyre, got my first job, started my first year at university, bought my first load of junk off ebay, and attended my first concert. I also met some of the coolest, eccentric, talented, and amazingly nice people along the way, and I am really, really happy.

Looking back, I was one young and stupid teenager, and if I could possibly go back in time, I would probably tell the old me (to grow the fuck up ... just kidding, haha) to make the most of what I had, and not take things to heart like I did. Maybe I have done a couple of things that I regret, but I'm not taking them back and I don't think I ever really want to.

Although so many awful things have happened around the world, I think 2008 as been the best year I have lived, if that makes any sense. So many things have opened my eyes that have changed and challenged the way I think, I have onestly learnt so much. Actually I think I've learnt more about anything and everything, this year than I ever did in high school! Haha!

And thanks, to everyone who has helped me get this far, and those who have been completely tolerant with me and my weird ways, and not crushing me when I've said things that haven't made all that much sense. I'm still learning =).

You special people have made my year that much better and I'm glad that I had the privilege of knowing you.

Thanks guys

=)

Port O'Brien - I Woke Up Today

I went on another CD spree, I think I have a problem.

I got:
- Hi mom, let's dance - swirl people
- Beyond all reasonable doubt - flightcrank
- Bennicassim - Aramchek
Those were all crap. Kathy asked me to find her the most obscure cds i could find, and they were it. I planning to sell them on ebay some time. The swirl people cd was BELGIAN HOUSE. YES, BELGIAN HOUSE, i wanted to cut my ears off with a kitchen knife.

In other news, I had a pretty awesome 18 and 12 months birthday this year! Special thanks to MUSTI, KATIE and MARIE! for making my day. They bought me 2 pairs of much needed chucks. I need to upload a picture of my old ones, my mum might've thrown them out already =S. You guys are so sneaky. And MUSTI MUSTI MUSTI! THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE WE ARE SCIENTIST CD!! You are the coolest person I know, and i'm glad everything's good now! =)
We will see Burn After Reading on the 26th! (if its still showing). you get the GOLD STAR OF THE YEAR! Also, thankyou sarah for the book, shirt and toy bear. I love the book, its hilarious!! Thankyou!

Thanks for everything guys!

Also, I am going to perth at the end of the year, yes it is unbelievably boring there, but at least i don't have to pay for it! And hopefully Rich, Karen and I can finish planning our trip to Melbourne for a couple of days. Maybe we'll even catch a gig or two while we're there! If anyone knows of any cheap places to stay in melb, please tag me or something! Would be very much appreciated. And if anyone would like to join us, message me too! The more the merrier! I was hoping to crash at my cousins place but she's moved back to brissy, daym.

Someone Still Loves You Boris Yetlsin - Modern Mystery

I am currently obsessed with SOMEONE STILL LOVES YOU BORIS YELTSIN. Their album came in the post last week, along with my LOS CAMPESINOS!, VAN SHE and THE SLEEPY JACKSON. And i bought them all before the financial crisis! YAY! haha.

In other news:

I'M GOING TO THE UK IN 2009!!! YES I AM!

So now I'm saving up all my money to have enough to go next year. GOD! I can't wait! Luckily, all I have to pay for is my airfare. I'll be staying at my friend's place, and i've already confirmed it with my parents, afterall, i'll be 20 then, perfect timing. I'M SO EXCITED!! I'm going to work every day in the semester break, FULL time. if i'm desperate i'll even find another job for weekends. Hopefully by then i'll earn enough to get the independency bonus from the government, and when i'm working next year, it all doubles up, and i'll have enough to splurge, guilt free. WOHOO!

So i've planned to cut back on concerts and things like that. Eileen just got tickets to see Lykke Li! ( i guess that not helping) and i really want to go to Laneway, (ps if anyone wants to go to laneway, msg me!) tickets are 99 bucks + bf.

Oh! I'll be staying in Wales but hopefully i'll get to go out and explore England and hopefully go down to Nuneaton to see Becca. That would be pretty awesome.

Empire Of The Sun - Walking On A Dream

Hmmm I was just thinking about the Britt Lapthorne case and thought about how many strangers i've spoken to this year. And there's actually been a few. Though there are only 2 worth writing about.

There was this really cool person I met at Luna Park on the ride that goes round and round perpendicular to the ground. No idea what the ride was called. But the person who was operating the ride was called (dreadlock) Julie, and she was pretty awesome. From what I remember, she lives in Newtown, loves birdwatching and advised Phyllis and I to go to Luna Park on Friday nights, because the rides are cheaper then. And she held my glasses for me while I was on the ride. Fun times.

Then there was that freaky guy Eileen, Musti and I got stuck with on the train. I didn't find him that scary, I thought he was just normal and just talkative, but Musti thought he was high on weed or something, and tried to stop me talking to the guy. He kept asking Eileen questions about being Chinese and speaking English, I think he said he was Malaysian Chinese or something and he spoke fluent English too so I didn't really understand where he was getting at. I think Musti also asked if he was drunk and the guy put his finger up to his face and was going to try and touch his nose to prove that he wasn't, and before he did that, I told him that he should be careful, because we're sitting on a train and he could poke and eye out. I think he was kind of offended. And Musti was freaking out. The guy finally got off at Strathfield and Musti quickly escorted us to the next carriage and told me not to talk to strangers, and that the guy was probably high on weed and drunk.

I know that's not worth writing about, but its actually quite scary when I think of some of the stupid and naive things I have done in my time. Haha.

I will write about the We Are Scientists gig when i get my camera back tomorrow, because I now have a half decent WAS collection thanks to the Metro boy who saved me a poster. Yay!

Metro boy, you get my gold star for the week.
